2024 Kachemak Bay (1 Day)

  • 650 US dollars
  • Ramp 3, Homer Harbor

July 25th 2024 Maximum 5 participants Welcome to my hometown of Homer, Alaska, overlooking scenic Kachemak Bay. The bay is full of life, from the graceful humpback whales below to the bald eagles, puffins, and cormorants circling overhead. Join me on my one day workshop exploring this marine haven via a private boat tour, captained by experienced naturalists. Itinerary: We will meet at the docks at 5 AM just before sunrise to begin our 6-hour boat tour through the Kachemak Bay, where we will photograph nesting tufted puffins, humpback whales, sea otters, common murres, pigeon guillemots, pelagic cormorants, and many other pelagic species. If the weather allows, we will explore just outside of the bay to visit the sea lion colony and search for more elusive creatures such as rhinoceros auklets, orcas, and fork-tailed storm petrels. The 6 person landing craft we will be utilizing allows us to get closer to wildlife and lie down on the bow in order to capture eye-level photos of these marine species, setting your photos apart from the typical wildlife viewing tour images. Not only does the 5 AM start allow for beautiful golden light, but it also significantly increases the chances of calm weather and glassy reflections before the afternoon breeze kicks in! Cost Per Person: $650 $300 deposit required to secure booking. The remaining $350 is due 30 days prior to the workshop date. Included: My dedicated mentorship 6 hour private boat rental NOT included: Lodging Camera gear Food Transportation to/from Homer Feel free to reach out with any questions!
